In our last blog post, we talked about the project and productivity management system, JobProgress. As promised, we wanted to share the rest of our conversation with Rob Kurzner, owner and president of Hammer Exteriors, on how he uses the tool in his company.
What is the biggest surprise about the platform?
Like any new tool, the learning curve can be challenging since there is just so much to uncover and learn how to use. But the service team at JobProgress really surprised me with their quick responses, and the time they were willing to spend with me, a small business owner. They did everything they could to help me understand it and make sure it worked for me in the long run. I don’t talk to them all that often now, but the original guy I talked to when I was originally setting up my system, Michael Ippoliti, still answers my texts when I send them. If we need to go into more detail, we schedule a time to meet. It shows that they aren’t some big corporation but a company like mine that is willing to help all their customers, not just the big guys.
How easy was it for you to learn?
I’ll be honest, it was a bit rocky to start since I was used to more simple programs that only do one thing. It is customizable to you and how your business runs, so it is important to set it up correctly from the beginning. Once it is set up, it is simple to use and makes my life easier. I couldn’t run my business by myself without a program like this. And for the price point, you can’t beat what you get.
What are the features you use most?
I’m still learning, but I love how I can type a project description, save it and later copy/paste it into other documents like proposals and invoices. My bookkeeper can go in and see what I am working on to track profit and loss and give me the information I need to make business decisions. If you have sales reps, you can also see what appointments your sales reps have scheduled and have them clock in and out in the system so you can track when and how they are working. I can also track contractors and set reminders of when I need to get documentation to them. It does so much, and I’m always discovering new ways to use it.
How scalable is it?
As you grow, it can grow with you. And they come out with new features all the time too. I like that the founders of JobProgress initially met with contractors to find what they needed and then created a program that works for them.
Would you recommend it to a fellow business owner?
Absolutely 100 percent! Even if someone offered me something for free, I could still stick with JobProgress because of how they treat me.
